LOCAL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #9715 RECEIVES TOP AWARD
Our Father John E. Doyle Council of the Knights of Columbus Council #9715 has received the distinction of Star Council, the international organization’s top award for local councils. The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, sponsorship of faith formation programs and service-oriented activities.
The Council was able to protect the unborn, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, shelter the homeless and visit the sick. The Council provided support to so many different organizations during the fraternal year, and here are just some of the many: The Brother House in Norristown, PA, St. Helena Foodbank, Face-to-Face in Germantown, financial support of seminarians and deacon studies, Corpus Christi School, Sacred Heart Parish in South Philadelphia, A Baby’s Breath in Collegeville, Our Sister Parish—Visitation BVM in Kensington—with Coats for Kids, School Supplies (Ladies Auxiliary), Easter Basket Project, and Giving Tree (Ladies Auxiliary) Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Wheelchair purchase program, Gianna Center and Guiding Star Ministries.
The Knights were involved in plenty of activities that we coordinated throughout the year: the Rose and Rosary Program for the newly baptized, DeKalb Pike roadside clean-up, decorating the church for Christmas and Easter, local free-throw contest, organizing packages for troops, and The March for Life Alternative at Corpus Christ and the outreach to the sick and shut-ins.
None of this could have been accomplished without the tremendous support of our Pastors, our Brother Knights and the Ladies Auxiliary, the parishioners of Corpus Christi and St. Rose of Lima Parishes and the administrative and support staffs at both Parishes.
For information on joining the Knights of Columbus contact local Membership Director Rudy Usic at firstname.lastname@example.org or 215-802-0588.
The Knights of Columbus is one of the few church-related organizations that have members throughout North America. Named in honor of Christopher Columbus, the Catholic evangelist who brought the Faith to America, the Knights support the Church in both its doctrine and its charitable causes. The family is the heart of the order, which helps at many parish functions and promotes the culture of life.
St. Rose of Lima Parish and Corpus Christi Parish jointly sponsor the Fr. John E. Doyle Council. The Knights generously gift newly registered Parish families with a free pancake breakfast and present a rose and rosary to the newly baptized at St. Rose Church. Membership is open to all practicing Catholic gentlemen of at least 18 years of age. The St. Rose Roundtable meets monthly at 7:30 PM on the 3rd Monday of the month.
